Help in a crisis

To access urgent mental health support for yourself or a loved one call 111 and choose option 2.

Available 24 hours a day, the number is free to call from landline or mobile, even if you have no credit left. More information is available at NHS 111 Press 2

If you are worried that there is an immediate risk to life, you can contact the police on 999. You can also attend your nearest A&E.

The Samaritans are available on 116 123 24 hours, 365 days a year. You can call for free on any phone.

Find support in your area

Each health board region in Wales delivers an Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) Service. There is some variation in what is offered. Take a look at the links for more information.


Aneurin Bevan University Health Board

The Aneurin Bevan team currently support people aged 14 to 35 who are experiencing early symptoms of psychosis or have experienced untreated psychotic symptoms within the last three years.

Referrals are accepted from GPs, primary care professionals, mental health professionals and anyone concerned about an individual’s mental state.

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board

Cardiff and Vale UHB The Cardiff and Vale team currently support people aged 14 to 25 who are experiencing early symptoms of psychosis or are at risk of developing psychosis. We are a service working alongside Barnardo’s to support young people. Referrals are accepted from secondary mental health services where the individual has a care co-ordinator. We do not currently take self-referrals.

Cwm Taf University Health Board

The Cwm Taf Morgannwg team are based in Ysbyty Cwm Cynon, Mountain Ash. The team are multi-professional and support people aged 14 to 35 years old who are experiencing early symptoms of psychosis or have experienced untreated psychotic symptoms within the last three years.

Our support is provided to those who live in the Rhondda Cynon Taf and Merthyr area. The Swansea Bay UHB EIP team currently supports Bridgend residents.

Referrals are accepted from GPs, primary care professionals, and mental health professionals. We do not currently take self-referrals.
